‘Epic Cricket – Big League Game’, is a realistic simulation game that thrives on a community of cricket fans who have been with us for years and the only reason they have followed us and been part of our community is because of the realistic simulation gameplay we have been able to bring to them. We all know cricket is a religion in India and this is one of the reasons we wanted to build a realistic simulation game. Right from the beginning, we wanted to delight our customers and Dolby enabled us to provide that ability to level up the simulation that one experiences. We used Dolby Atmos in our audio design strategically and manipulated the directions to ensure that the whole experience would be exactly like how it is within a packed cricket stadium. Doing this enabled us to deliver a life-like gameplay experience for our end customers.

We all believe that mobile games are all about visuals, but what most people don't realize is how important is audio to the game. Dolby Atmos has enabled us to create an experience for our gamers, that allows them to play the game as if they are in the middle of the pitch surrounded by cheering crowd. Gamers today rely heavily on sounds as part of the gameplay experience. The ability to pick sounds is very important. Whether they are subtle sounds or major booms or bangs within the game. For gamers, it could be a matter of life or death in the virtual world. The sounds that are produced within the game do pull the game through and this is where Dolby Atmos-enabled smartphones shine because they can reproduce crystal clear sounds allowing players to react and experience the game in a way that has never been done before.

Building our game in Dolby Atmos was a completely new experience for us. This is the first time we have done sound engineering to a level that has never been done before in any mobile game in India. We started by designing the whole audio experience that we wanted to build in the game. This was followed by sound engineering with the help of Dolby tools inside our game. The most important feature for us was the ability to precisely locate the sound and define the direction of the sound. Being a cricket simulation game, the whole experience has to be like playing a game in a stadium and this feature allowed us to manipulate the sound and allow players to experience sound coming from the direction where they're hitting the shot.

Dolby Atmos enabled us to deploy complex algorithms and techniques to build an amazingly realistic experience that will leave a lasting impression on gamer’s visual and auditory senses. Interestingly, even OEMs have realized this and have introduced devices like smartphones, tablets, and even add-on peripherals like Dolby Atmos-enabled headphones to be able to give an enhanced experience to mobile gamers.

Gamers today are very demanding. They want everything to be like the real-world sport of cricket. Sound plays a very big role in that experience, and hence when we introduced Dolby Atmos, we realized that now we have come very close to a lifelike experience as opposed to using canned sounds and canned recordings in a game. Dolby Atmos has been a great partner; they've helped us with technology integration, and they have helped us improve the experience overall by giving inputs on the sound design, and engineering.
